Mehak Channi

My name is Mehak and I’m an aspiring Software Developer based in New York. I recently graduated from CUNY Queens College with a Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science with a concentration in Front-End Software Development. Throughout my academic career, I’ve acquired intensive knowledge of computational theory/logic, data structures, and algorithms through various types of projects and coursework. My primary interests involve web and mobile app development and I’m currently building upon my technical skills by learning NodeJS as well as React.

I was selected to participate in an Android Development Bootcamp hosted by CodePath where I learned key concepts such as Navigation Flows, Passing Data, Networking, and Parse Authentication through intense project-focused training. This experience allowed me to sharpen my Java programming skills by building Android apps such as a Movie Browsing app as well as a Twitter Client app. I was also recently given the opportunity to apply my Front-End knowledge by working as a part-time Web Development instructor at my university. As an instructor, my core responsibilities involved teaching HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, implementing small projects for the class in order to effectively demonstrate complex topics, as well as resolving various types of technical issues that students had throughout the course. By the end of each session, students were not only capable of building their own websites, but also acquired a basic understanding of programming.

As a recent graduate, I would like to maximize my creativity and technical knowledge by building large scale software applications that will help solve real world problems. I also hope to grow as a professional by obtaining a comprehensive understanding of both front-end and back-end technologies and eventually become a Full-Stack Engineer.
